Discord Bot Commands

The complete command reference for the Synectix Forge Discord bot - server setup, study rooms, task verification, JAM sessions, level roles, and the Server Pro automation perks.

Every command below is a real slash command - type / in any server the bot is in to see the current list and its live parameter hints, since Discord always shows the source of truth there. The bot itself never calculates XP, levels, or streaks - it only writes lightweight bookkeeping and reads back numbers already computed by the backend, so stats shown in Discord always match the website.

/setup requires Server Administrator permission (or the server owner). Everyone else can use the study room, verification, JAM, and stats commands further down this page.

Getting connected

Invite the bot with the bot and applications.commands scopes - see Installing the Bot for the full walkthrough. Once it's in your server, run /setup and work through the panel in roughly this order: Room Category & Channels, Create-Room Permissions, then Roles & XP Tiers.

/setup

Who can run it: Server Administrators or the server owner only - enforced twice: at the Discord API level (so Discord hides the command from non-admins in the picker), and again in code, which additionally allows the guild owner even if their Discord permissions are unusual.

Options: none. Running it opens one private ("ephemeral") message only you can see or interact with - a home panel with a dropdown to drill into any of the areas below. Every screen is a component on that same message, so nothing here is a separate command.

Panel areaWhat it configures
🎧 Room Category & ChannelsWhich category /create-room spawns rooms under, plus the admin-log, command, and notification channels (native Discord channel-picker dropdowns)
🔒 Create-Room PermissionsRestrict /create-room to one role, or leave it open to everyone
🏅 Roles & XP TiersAuto-generate a 12-tier role ladder in one click, manually map any role to any level, or force-resync everyone's roles against their current XP
📚 Study EnvironmentOne-click provisioning: a category + 4 text channels (announcements, focus-chat, proof-of-work, study-logs) + 3 voice channels (Join-to-Create, Silent Focus, Lofi & Open Study). Idempotent - re-running offers Repair (recreate only what's missing) or Force Reset
✅ Task VerificationToggle Strict Mode (requires camera/screen-share during Locked-In sessions) and set how many community flags a proof-of-work post needs before escalating to staff
📈 Server Stats Channels (Server Pro)Two voice channels whose names display live server activity
🔇 Auto-Mute (Server Pro)Auto server-mutes members while inside a Locked-In room
⏳ Role Decay (Server Pro)Auto-demotes an inactive member's level role after N days with no tracked session (XP itself is untouched)

/create-room

Who can run it: Everyone by default, unless an admin restricted it to a specific role via /setup → Create-Room Permissions.

Prerequisites: you must already be connected to a voice channel, and the server must have a room category configured (/setup → Room Category & Channels).

OptionTypeRequiredNotes
topictext, 1–60 charsYesWhat the session is about
durationinteger, 5–480YesSprint length in minutes
locked_intrue / falseYestrue = strict accountability: leaving early without /task-complete costs -125 XP and 0 XP for the session. false = casual, no penalty
user_limitinteger, 0–99Optional (default 0)Participant cap; 0 = unlimited

Creates a real voice channel under the configured category, sets its status text to Topic: … | Sprint: …m, moves you into it, and posts an embed with a launch link into the Discord Activity for that room. A background sweep auto-closes a Locked-In room 5 minutes after its timer runs out, crediting everyone still connected the full completion bonus first.

/task-complete

Who can run it: Whoever currently has an active room session - you're inside a room /create-room made, or joined one.

OptionTypeRequiredNotes
summarytext, 2–500 charsYesWhat you actually got done - needs to be a real sentence
attachmentfile / screenshotOptionalRe-uploaded into the public proof-of-work post; shown inline if it's an image

The verification model - four layers:

  1. Elapsed Time Floor - refuses to run until 75% of the room's target duration has genuinely elapsed (reaching the timer, or its 5-minute grace period, always satisfies this). Time spent self-deafened - or, in Strict Mode servers, without camera/screen-share - doesn't count toward that 75%.
  2. Pro-rated XP - finishing early credits exactly your active minutes at 5 XP/minute, plus the same completion bonus a full-duration stay gets. There's never an incentive to sit out the clock.
  3. Passive telemetry - self-deafening always pauses your XP clock; Strict Mode (opt-in per server) also pauses it whenever camera and screen-share are both off.
  4. Public proof + peer review - posts an embed (your summary, target vs. active minutes, live stats, optional attachment) to the server's configured proof-of-work channel. Every post carries a 🚩 Flag as Invalid button; once enough unique members flag it (default 2, admin-configurable - or a single admin flag), it escalates to the staff/study-logs channel with a ⚔️ Revoke XP & Strike User button.

Completing lets you leave the room afterward with no early-exit penalty.

/jam

Who can run it: Anyone currently in a voice channel.

OptionTypeRequiredNotes
room_idtext (channel ID)OptionalDefaults to your current voice channel; you must actually be in the target channel

Starts a Spotify-based synced listening session hosted on the standalone jam.synectixforge.com portal, rather than inside Discord's own Activity - Spotify's Web Playback SDK and OAuth redirect don't fit the Activity iframe's constraints. Free sessions cap at 30 minutes with a 5-track queue; an entitled host (Pro Jam Pass, or the server's own JAM Pass) gets no cap. Two separate links are generated: a public room-code link anyone can view/queue with, and a private host-token link shown only to you, which grants playback control.

Stats, profile & help

/profile [user]

OptionTypeRequiredNotes
useruser mentionOptionalDefaults to yourself

Shows Level, Total XP, Global Rank, Total Study Hours, and Current Streak for the target user, pulled live from the backend.

/server-stats

No options. Shows this server's aggregate Level, Total XP, Global Rank, Total Study Hours, Active Members, and Total Sessions.

/leaderboard

No options. Rather than rendering its own live-queried table in Discord, this links out to the website's User and Server leaderboard pages - deliberately, so there's a single source of truth for rankings instead of two independent queries that could drift out of sync.

/help

No options. Lists every command above by category, plus links to invite the bot, the website, support, and documentation.

Bot permissions required

view_channel, send_messages, embed_links, read_message_history, use_application_commands, manage_channels, move_members, manage_roles, mute_members. The bot checks these on startup and inside /setup's home panel, surfacing a warning and re-invite link if anything's missing.

manage_roles alone isn't enough for role rewards to work - the bot's own top role also has to sit above every level role in Server Settings → Roles, or Discord silently rejects the assignment regardless of permissions. /setup's Roles & XP screen flags this automatically when it detects the problem.

Also available: Web App & PC App

Everything above runs on Discord, but the same account also works on the Web App and the Windows/macOS desktop app - same XP, streaks, and leaderboard. The desktop app is the only surface with a trial/subscription gate at launch; the Web App and the Discord Activity are always free to open. See Installation for platform-specific details.
