Overview
Camphor is a focus and productivity app made by Synectix Forge for Windows and macOS. This policy explains what information Camphor collects when you use the app, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the controls you have over it.
We wrote this policy by reading Camphor's own code rather than adapting a generic template, so it describes what the app actually does - not more, not less.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo from that provider. Camphor never sees or stores your Google or Discord password - sign-in happens through each provider's own secure flow, and Camphor only receives a token confirming who you are.
Content you create
To make Camphor useful across your devices, we store the content you create inside it:
- Tasks - including List, Kanban, and Timeline data: title, priority, due date, completion status, and subtasks.
- Habits - habit names, categories, and streak/completion history.
- Goals - titles, descriptions, categories, deadlines, and progress.
- Notes - note content, folders, tags, and pinned/favorite status.
- Calendar events and deadlines you add.
- Focus session data - session lengths and timestamps from the focus timer.
Note attachments
Photos or files you attach to a note are stored only on your device, never uploaded to our servers - only the attachment's name and metadata sync with the rest of your note.
Productivity tracker
Camphor can optionally track which application is in the foreground on your computer, to help you understand where your time goes. This feature deserves its own section because it's the most sensitive thing Camphor can observe, and we handle it deliberately:
Only a small, aggregated summary - for example, "2 hours in Category: Study" - is included in your synced account data, so your productivity trends are available across your devices without your detailed activity log ever leaving your machine. You can clear these local logs at any time from Camphor's settings.
How we use your information
- To operate Camphor's core features - syncing your tasks, habits, goals, notes, and calendar across the devices you're signed into.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process your subscription, through our third-party payment provider (see Payments).
- To respond when you contact us for support.
- Only if you've explicitly opted in via Settings: anonymized crash reports and usage analytics, to help us fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your task, note, or habit content to serve ads - Camphor doesn't show ads.
Storage & syncing
Your account content is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure, and transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Firebase's own security rules restrict your data so that only your authenticated account can read or write it.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing the data it processes on our behalf. We only share the minimum information each service needs to perform its function for Camphor.
Payments
Camphor subscriptions are billed by Synectix Forge directly, through our payment processor Razorpay - not through Microsoft Store or Apple's commerce systems. Camphor never sees or stores your card number, UPI ID, or other payment credentials; Razorpay handles that directly and is responsible for its own PCI-DSS compliant handling of your payment details.

Your choices
- Analytics & crash reports are off by default. You can turn them on (or leave them off) in Settings → Privacy at any time.
- Productivity tracker can be turned off entirely, and its local logs cleared, from Settings.
- Signing out stops Camphor from syncing further changes to your account.
- Deleting your account - contact us (see below) and we'll delete your synced data. Local files on your own device, including productivity tracker logs, are yours to delete at any time regardless.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active, so Camphor continues to work the way you left it. If you delete your account, we delete your synced content within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain limited records (for example, payment records) for legal or accounting purposes.
Children's privacy
Camphor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase's authentication-scoped access rules. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security - but unauthorized access to your account is something we take seriously and will act on quickly if it occurs.
International users
Camphor is available worldwide. Using Camphor means your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including wherever our service providers (Google Firebase, Razorpay) operate their infrastructure. We take steps to ensure your data is handled consistently with this policy regardless of where it's processed.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Camphor after a change means you accept the updated policy.
